Pastor Ernst Althausen, son of military physician Adolf Sigismund Althausen & Anna Katharina Thalrose, was born 13 March 1862 in Kutuschi (Caucasus) and was ordained on 31 July 1888. On 14 August 1888, he married in Dorpat to Dagmar Gööck (born 24 May 1867 in Kronstadt; died 29 April 1946 in Dallgow). Pastor Althausen died 22 March 1946 in Dallgow near Berlin.

He studied theology at the University of Dorpat (Estonia). He served a vicarship in St. Petersburg from 1887-1888. He was ordained in Roshischtsche, Volhynia, on 14 June 1888.

He served the congregation in Roshischtsche (Volhynia) in 1888 and in Tutschin (Volhynia) from 1888-1902. He served in Rovno from 1902-1908. He also served the Reformed congregation in the Volga German colony of Messer from 1897-1898.
