Biography

Sister Mary Fidelis Karlin was born Cecilia Karlin, daughter of Athanasius Karlin & Dorothea Schuetz, on 16 December 1898 in Catharine, Kansas.

At a young age, she entered the Order of the Sisters of St. Agnes (C.S.A.). The Order's headquarters are in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Sister Fidelis served as president of Marian College (today Marian University - Wisconsin) from July 1952 to December 1963 and is responsible for much of the planning that lead to the current building footprint of the campus including the present administration and science buildings, the library, and Dorcas Chapel. During her tenure, degree programs were added in medical technology and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Hazotte Hall, the first residence for lay students, was also purchased.

She died in Fond du Lac on 9 April 1981.
