Biography: 

Dr. Harold N. "Hal" Langlitz, son of David Langlitz & Mary Benner, was born 25 April 1925 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. His family returned to Orange County, New York, where he grew up.

Dr. Langlitz held degrees from SUNY Fredonia, University of Rochester, and Syracuse University. He began his career as a music teacher and eventually became a principal. He retired in 1995 after 28 years as the Executive Director of the New York State Teachers' Retirement System, having grown its assets from $1.7 billion to over $40 billion.

He died on 28 November 2015 and is buried in Schuylerville, New York.

His Volga German ancestors came from the colony of Yagodnaya Polyana.
