Dennis F. Michaelis, son of Fred Michaelis & Minnie Elizabeth Adams of Hill City, Kansas, served as president of Lake Region Community College, president of Paris Community College (1983-88), and president of McLennan Community College (1988-2009).

He earned degrees from the University of Kansas (BS 1965), Fort Hays State University (MA 1970), and Kansas State University (EdD 1979).

His Volga German ancestors come from the colony of Kratzke.
