Quiring, Johannes

Biography: 

Johannes Quiring was born 12 September 1851 in Tessendorf. In 1855, his parents and siblings immigrated to the Volga German Mennonite colony of Köppental.

He attended the Marienkirchenschul (parochial school of St. Mary's Lutheran Church) in Saratov, receiving his teaching certificate in 1870. He taught at the school in Köppental from 1870 to 1889. He taught at the local high school from 1898 to 1911.

In 1884, he became the successor to David Hamm who had been the spiritual leader of the Mennonite congregation in Köppental. He served in this capacity until his death in Köppental on 9 April 1912.
