Pastor Leopold Schmidt was born 12 July 1875 and died from typhus in Stalingrad on 7 May 1927. He was ordained on 19 March 1906.

He served the congregation in Sarepta from 1906-1913 and in Tsarizyn from 1914 until his death in 1927.
