History:

Brunnenzug was a khutor (farmstead) located 42 kilometers northwest of Fedorovka. It appears on military topographic maps from 1941 as Brunne-Zürich.  Following the 1941 deportation of the Volga Germans, it was renamed to Novaya Zhizn ("New Life"), and what remains today of the former Volga German settlement is still known by this name.
