History
Neu-Unterwalden was founded before 1888 by a group of Volga German farmers from Schönchen about 3 kilometers north of Gnadenflur. As of 1917, the farm was called Neu-Zürich, but in the 1920s, it was renamed Neu-Unterwalden because there was another daughter colony named Neu-Zürich that was located along the Karaman River.
Today, nothing remains of the former Volga German settlement of Neu-Unterwalden.
Church
There were no known religious structures in Neu-Unterwalden.
