Hope Christian Reformed Church - Stony Plain

The Volga German settlers from Norka who settled near Stony Plain beginning in 1889 built a small log church in about 1890 a half mile south of the present old church building. They were supplied by various pastors that were not directly connected with the Synod of the German Reformed Churches in the United States.

On 17 May 1908, the congregation was officially established. This present building had the cornerstone laid in the NE corner near the front steps in early Spring of 1912 and building construction began at that time with dedication following completion of the building on 15 September 1912.

Hope German Reformed Church became Hope Christian Reformed Church in 1966. A new church building was constructed in 1995, directly west of the old building. The church cemetery is now located between the two buildings.
