History

Druzhba is located only a few kilometers from the Chinese border with Kazakhstan.  It was officially founded in 1956 with the arrival of the railroad to this region. There were, however, Volga Germans sent there as part of Stalin's anti-kulak programs in the 1930s.  Most of the Volga Germans living in Druzhba immigrated to Germany in the 1990s.

Today, Druzhba is known as Dostyk.
