History:

Rosenthal was officially founded in 1918 by settlers from adjacent farming communities. The largest ethnic group among these first settlers were Germans from Ekaterinoslav Province and Volhynia as well as Volga Germans from the Novo-Uzen District of the Samara Province who had lived at the headwaters of the Yeruslan River where the colony of Rosental is located. This is believed to be from where the new village took its name.

In Russian, the name had varient spellings including Rasdolina (Раздолина) and Rosodolina (Розодолина) which by 1939 had transformed into the current name of Rosa-Dolina (Роза-Долина).
