Johannes Jacob Eckler, from Lauterecken in Rheinland-Pfalz, married Sybilla Gertrude Bachmann on 2 July 1765 in the Catholic Church of Bensberg.
Jacob & Gertrude emigrated to Russia, departing from Lübeck by the ship Apollo, with Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg at the helm. They arrived in Oranienbaum on 29 August 1766.
Jacob Heckler [sic] and his wife Gerdruta are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
The Ecklers arrived in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 22 August 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 Census in Household No. 91.
The 1798 census of Pfeifer records the Eckler family in Household No. Pf81.
Johann[es] Eckler from Pfeifer is recorded on the 1811 census of Hölzel in Household No. 23 along with a note that he had arrived in Hölzel from Pfeifer in 1805.
Johannes Eckler, son of Jakob Eckler, and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Hölzel in Household No. 30.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jakob Eckler came from the German region of Pfalz.
