Johann Georg Ewig, son of Johann Konrad & Anna Margaretha Ewig, was born on 21 April 1740 in Schriesheimer Hof, Kurpfalz. The family also lived in the village of Wilhelmsfeld.
He and his brothers (Johann Nikolaus, b. 1727, and Johann Michael, b. 1731) immigrated first to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Fridericia on 2 November 1759.
On 13 June 1760, Johann Georg Ewig married in Thorning [Denmark] to Maria Margaretha Filbert, daughter of Johann Peter Filbert & Anna Maria Stock. [See Filbert Family.] She had been born on 3 April 1736 in Gronau.
In December 1760, the brothers settled in the Danish colony of Friderichsheede.
They are last recorded among the Danish colonies on 26 April 1763.
The three brothers and their families joined the migration to Russia and settled in the colony of Anton on 7 September 1764.
(1) Nikolaus Ewig (age 40), a farmer, his wife Susanna, and daughter Anna Margaretha (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Anton in Household No. 42.

(2) Michael Ewig is not recorded in the research by the Eichhorns.
Michael Ewig (age 37), a farmer, and his wife Margaretha are recorded on the 1767 census of Anton in Household No. 43.

(3) The register of Friderichsheede [Denmark] (parish of Karup) records the baptisms of two daughters born to Georg Ewig: (1) Susanna Margaretha, baptized 14 June 1761; and (2) Anna Elisabeth, baptized 2 November 1762.
Georg Ewig (age 27), a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and daughters (Anna Elisabeth, age 4; Maria Barbara, age 2; Anna Maria, age ½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Anton in Household No. 25.
Widower Georg Ewig and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Anton in Household No. An43.
The Eichhorns record that the Ewig brothers came from the German village of Schriesheim, Oberamt Heidelberg, in the Kurpfalz region. The 1767 census records that these Ewig brothers came from the "Kurpfalz, Oberamt Heidelberg."
