Heinrich Kappes married Anna Barbara Baur, daughter of Dionysii Baur, on 1 January 1754 in the Catholic Church of Bombogen, 9 kilometers east of Wittlich. They had six children, each baptized in Bombogen: (1) Johann Christoph, on 20 October 1754; (2) Anna Maria, on 25 November 1756; (3) Johann Heinrich, on 9 September 1758; (4) Nicolaus, on 21 November 1760; (5) Joseph, on 26 March 1762; and (6) Johann Peter, on 24 May 1763.

Heinrich Kappes and his family emigrated to Russia, arriving in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 16 June 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 13.

On the 1798 Census of Mariental sons Johann Peter & Johann Heinrich are recorded in Households No. Mt60 & Mt64, respectively.
