Discussion & Documentation

Daniel Präfried was from Leidhecken, just southeast of Reichelsheim.

Daniel Praefried & Anna Elisabeth Kalck were married on 15 July 1766 in the Lutheran Cathedral (Evangelische Kirche Dom) in Lübeck.

Daniel Prefiet, a weaver, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Daniel Prefiet and his wife Elisabetha are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Elisabetha died en route.

Daniel Prefried, a farmer, and his [new] wife Elisabeth are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Paulskaya in Household No. 6.

They eventually settled in the colony of Kind, because the widower Präfried is recorded as having left there in 1781 without passport.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Daniel Prefiet came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Ledener [?] in the Darmstadt region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
