Wilhelm (Kolb)

Johann Phillip Wilhelm, son of Johannes Wilhelm & Susanna Charlotta Höhn, was born 1 Jul 1744 in Altenhaßlau, today a part of the town of Gelnhausen northeast of Hanau. He was baptized in the Reformed Church there. The parents had been married on 4 January 1736 in Lützelhausen, just south of Gelnhausen.

Philipp & Johannes Wilhelm are recorded on the list of immigrants by Johann Facius: 

Actum Aufenau den 15 Februar 1766: Philipp Wilhelm, 20 Jahre alt, aus Lützelhausen, ledigen Standes, ein guter Ackermann, reform. Relig.; Johannes Wilhelm, 22 Jahre alt, von Lutzelhausen, ledigen Standes, willig zu Heirat mit Barbara, 20 Jahre alt, reform. Relig, ein Ackermann.

[Gathering at Aufenau on 15 February 1766: Philipp Wilhelm, 20-years-old, from Lützelhausen, single, a good farmhand, Reformed; Johannes Wilhelm, 22-years-old, from Lützelhausen, willing to marry with Barbara, 20-years-old. Reformed, a farmer.]

Philips [sic] Wilhelm & Eliesabetha [sic] Schmidt were married on 5 March 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Philipp Wilhelm, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard a ship named Die Perle under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen. They were traveling with Elisabeth's brother Johann [Schmidt] (age 18).

The Wilhelms settled in the colony of Kolb on 13 May 1767, where they are recorded on the 1767 Census in Household No. 20. They are still recorded there on the 1798 Census in Household No. Ko27.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Philipp Wilhelm came from the German region of Hanau. The 1767 census records that Philipp Wilhelm came from the German village of Lützelhausen in the Hanau region.
