The Rev. Gustav Adolf Thomson, son of Gustav Thomson & Henriette Breyer, was born 29 July 1857 in Audern, Livland (Latvia). After completing a gymnasium education in Pernau, he studied theology at the University of Dorpat and was ordained on 23 January 1883.

He served the Lutheran congregations in Gnadentau (from 1883-1888) and Saratov (from 1888 until his death in 1913). He also served as the Provost of the Lutheran congregations on the Wiesenseite from 1892 to 1913.

He died 6 April 1913 in Saratov.
