Discussion & Documentation

Johann Nicolaus & Catharina Müller had two children who immigrated to Russia: (1) Martin, born in 1737 in Kressenbach; and (2) Catharina, born 5 January 1748 in Kressenbach.

(1) Martin Müller from Wiedermus married on 8 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen to Anna Catharina Knaus, daughter of Johann Hermann Knaus & Anna Margaretha Hoffmann. Anna Catharina had been baptized in Düdelsheim on 9 February 1738.

Martin & Anna Catharina Müller arrived at the port in Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 along with her parents and siblings. They arrived in Moor on 18 June 1767 and are recorded there in Household No. 38 along with newborn son Adam (age ¾ year).

In 1788, Adolf Müller and his family moved from Müller to Stephan.

The 1767 census records that Martin Müller came from the German region of Isenburg.

(2) Catharina Müller married Johann Adam Knaus, son of Johann Hermann Knaus & Anna Margaretha Hoffmann.

Adam Knaus and his [new] wife arrived at the port in Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766.

Adam Knaus, his wife Anna Katharina, and his mother Anna Margaretha are recorded on the 1767 census of Moor in Household No. 37.
