Cristina Elisabet Fernández Wilhelm is the daughter of Eduardo Fernández Fernández and Ofelia Esther Wilhelm Pulidio. Cristina was born on 19 February 1953 in La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires, and was the wife of Néstor Kirchner, President of Argentina from 2004-2007. Cristina was elected to succeed him and was inagurated on 10 December 2007. She was elected to a second term in 2011. She was term-limited out of office on 10 December 2015.
Her mother (Ofelia Esther Wilhelm Pulidio) is the daughter of Carlos Nemesio Wilhelm Gutiérrez & María Vicenta Pulido Plaza. Carlos Wilhelm has been reported in government published sources and on several websites to be a descendant of Volga German immigrants from the colony of Huck who had settled in and around Urdinnarain in Entre Ríos Province. However, Carlos is the son of Carlos Wilhelm who came from Germany and Carlota Luisa Gutiérrez, neither of whom have Volga German ancestors, as confirmed by Argentinean Volga German researchers.
