Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Founding
of the Volga German Colony of
Yagodnaya Polyana
Saturday, 28 October 2017
Pine Island (Warwick), New York
The Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana was founded on 16 September 1767, and we are celebrating the 250th Anniversary in 2017! Immigration from Russia to North America began in 1874, and shortly thereafter, families from Yagodnaya Polyana began to settle in and around Pine Island, New York. They decided to form a congregation and in 1901 built St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Little York Road.
St. Peter's Lutheran Church holds an annual Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner each fall. For 2017, this event has been scheduled for Saturday, October 28th.
The public is invited to attend.
