The parish register of Schwickartshausen records the baptisms of seven children to Johannes Hoffman & Julianna Schmolbach, each born in Eckartsborn: (1) Maria Catharina, born 17 July1748, baptized 21 July 1748; (2) Anna Catharina, born 4 October 1749, baptized 7 October 1749; (3) Magdalena, born 6 February 1753, baptized 9 February 1753, died in 1759; (4) Johann Heinrich, born 18 February 1756, baptized 21 February 1756; (5) Andreas, born 19 July 1759, baptized 22 July 1759; (6) Johann Conrad, born 19 July 1762, baptized 22 July 1762, died 16 October 1762; and (7) Gertraud, born 31 August 1763, baptized 2 September 1763.
Johann[es] Hoffmann, a farmer, his wife Julianna, and children (Katharina, age 21; Anna, age 18; Johann Heinrich, age 11; Andreas, age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Die Frau Dietrika under the command of Skipper Joachim Friedrich Luhn.
Johannes Hoffmann, his wife Anna Katharina, and sons (Johannes, age 16; Johann Heinrich, age 11) settled in the Volga German colony of Frank in 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 73. [Anna Katharina is apparently the 2nd wife of Johannes Hoffmann, and the 16-year-old Johannes must be her son from a previous marriage.]
The widow and children of [Johann] Heinrich Hoffmann are recorded on the 1798 census of Frank in Household No. Fk082.
The 1767 census records that they are from Eckarsbrun [Eckartsborn] in the district of Hessen-Darmstadt.
