Discussion & Documentation

Anna Barbara Hosfeld, daughter of Johannes Hosfeld & Gertraud König, was born 13 May 1743 and baptized on 15 May 1743 in Heßdorf.

Johann Hosfeld, a farmer, his wife Gertruda, and daughters (Eva, age 18; Anna Margaretha, age 16; Anna Katharina, age 14) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard a ship named Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detleff Mörenberg along with Johann Michael Hosfeld, a single farmer [presumed son of Johann & Gertruda), and older daughter Anna Barbara [née Hosfeld] & her husband Georg Ernst Henkel. [See Henkel Family.]

Georg Ernst Henkel, a farmer, and his wife, Anna Barbara [née Hosfeld], are recorded on the 1767 census of Norka in Household No. 85 along with his sister-in-law Anna Katharina Gutfeld [should be Hosfeld]. They had arrived in Norka on 15 August 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Hosfeld came from the German region of Franken (Franconia).

There are no known male descendants of this Hosfeld family among the Volga German colonies.
