Jakob Bäcker, a farmer, and his wife, Katharina, settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 6.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Bäcker came from the German village of Bommersheim in the Kurmainz.
There are no know surviving male lines of this Bäcker family among the Volga German colonies.
