Joseph Geiderscheid [sic], a weaver, his wife Magdalena, and son Mattias (age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the 2-masted merchant ship named Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Adolph Scharpenberg.
Joseph Geisterscheid, clothweaver (Tuchweber), and his wife, Magdalena, settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 15 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 69.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Joseph Geiderscheid came from Luxembourg. The 1767 census records that Joseph Geisterscheid came from the village of Arlon in Luxembourg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Geisterscheid family among the Volga German colonies.
