Nikolaus Maibach, a tailor (Schneider), and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Mann und Frau under the command of Skipper Daniel Berg.
Nikolaus Maibach, his wife, Maria Magdalena, and his daughters by his first wife settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42.
In 1788, Sebastian Maibach moved from Preuss to Dehler. By 1798, Sebastian is living in Hildmann. In 1797, Johannes Maibach moved from Preuss to Dehler.
Descendants of Sebastian Maibach are recorded on the 1834 census of Dehler in Households No. 55 & 94.
The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Maibach came from the German village of Pfaffenwiesbach in the Kurmainz.
