Johann Heinrich Hopp, a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughter Elisabeth (age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 August 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Philippsfeld on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 41.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Heinrich Hopp came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that Johann Heinrich Hopp came from the German village of Weißenhasel in Hessen.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Hopp family among the Volga German colonies.
