Kaspar Haal, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Andreas, age 11; Anna, age 9; Johann, age 6; Peter, age 4; Maria, age 2) immigrated to Russia, arriving from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum aboard the ship Mann & Frau on 18 June 1766.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 15 July 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 85.
The 1767 census records that Karpar Haal came from the German village of Birkheim in the Kurtrier region.
