Discussion & Documentation

Orphan Elisabeth Keier, daughter of the deceased Johannes Keier, is recorded on the 1767 census of Norka in Household No. 208 along with the Ludwig Mersch family. They had settled there on 2 September 1767.

The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Keier and Mersch families.

There are no known surviving male descendants of this family, so the surname does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
