Johann Klug, a tailor, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 27 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Слон (Slon - Elephant in Russian) under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
Johann Philipp Klug, a tailor (Schneider), and his wife Katharina are recorded on the 1767 census of Leitsinger in Household No. 16. They had arrived in Leitsinger on 12 May 1767. [Most of the colonists settling in Leitsinger were Roman Catholic, but Johann Philipp Klug was Lutheran.]
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Klug came from the German region of Nassau. The 1767 census records that Johann Philipp Klug is from the German village of Dens.
There are no known male descendants of this Klug family among the Volga German colonies.
