Discussion & Documentation

Heinrich Klehr, a farmer, his wife Maria, and children (Anna, age 17¼; Margaretha, age 12; Johann Adam, age 10¼; Johann, age 8; Peter, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard a ship named Die Perle under the command of Skipper Gerhardt Hermann Thomsen.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Leichtling on 14 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 45.

In 1788, Peter Klehr moved from Leichtling to Kamenka.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Klehr came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Heinrich Klehr came from the German region of Fulda.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Klehr family among the Volga German colonies.
