Adam Bernhardt, a tailor (Schneider), and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Catharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Peter Roeder.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Leichtling on 14 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 30.
The son and daughter (Sebastian & Katharina) of the deceased Adam Bernhardt are recorded on the 1798 census of Leichtling in Household No. Lg31.
Sebastian Bernhardt from Leichtling and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Degott in Household No. 4.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Adam Bernhardt came from the German region of Mainz while the 1767 census records that he came from the German region of Volkach.
