Joseph [Andreas] Koske, a tanner, his wife Anna, and daughter Elisabeth (age 3) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jacob Janson.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach and are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs051.
The death of Andreas Koska [sic] in 1800 is recorded on the 1811 census of Hussenbach in Household No. 51.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Joseph Koske came from the Netherlands.
There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family, so the surname does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
