Johann Minch, a cooper, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.
Son Johann Heinrich settled in the Volga German colony of Kolb on 13 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 16 living with the Johannes Thiel family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Minch and Thiel families.
The 1767 census records that Johann Heinrich Minch came from the German village of Obersdorf in the Kurpfalz region.
