Discussion & Documentation

Nikolaus Reichenbach, a farmer, and his wife Magdalena arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard a ship named Der Junge Heinrich (The Young Henry) under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

Georg Niclas Reichelbach [sic] is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They arrived in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 48.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Nikolaus Reichenbach came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony). The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Reichenborn came from the German village of Döschnitz in Saxony.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Reichenborn family among the Volga German colonies.
