Pastor Johann Jakob Stuber, son of Georg Jakob Stuber & Margarethe Rommel, was born 6 August 1839 in Oxenbach, Württemberg (Germany).  He died 26 June 1906 in the Volga German colony of Brunnental.

He was married first to Maria Barbara Schrenk (born 27 January 1839, Hofingen, Württemberg; died 8 January 1879, Elenendorf, Elizavetpol Province). He remarried on 31 August 1879 to Katharina Weller (born 4 February 1849, Geschwend, Württemberg; died in 1926 in Saratov). He had 7 children by his first marriage and 8 by the second.

Pastor Stuber began is studies first to be a cobbler. Then he studied theology at the Basel Mission Society. He served the following parishes:

Tiflis and Alexandersdorf (1864-1865)
Alexandershilf (1865-1873)
Elenendorf, Elizavetpol Province (1873-1881)
Alt-Freudenthal, Odessa region (1881-1884)
Brunnental (1884-1906)
