Discussion & Documentation

Christian Töpper & Dorothea Hoppe were married on 9 April 1766 in Roßlau.

Christian Töpfer, a farmer, and his wife Anna [sic] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Nikolaus Peter Pink.

Christ. Topffer and his wife Dorothea are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Christian Töpfer and his wife Dorothea [sic] settled in the Volga German colony of Boisroux on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8.

In 1783, widow Dorothea Töpfer née Braunsdorf left Boisroux to marry Heinrich Kempt in Kaneau. She took her son Christian with her.

Christian Depfer from Boisroux and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Kaneau in Household No. Kn08.

The death of Christian Depfer in 1841 is recorded on the 1850 census of Kaneau in Household No. 32.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Christian Töpfer came from the German region of Dessau.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
