Andreas Paul, a farmer, and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Andreas Paul, his wife Anna Catharina, and daughter Christiana [born en route] are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that newborn Christiana also died en route.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 40.
In 1786, Johann Paul and his family moved from Kaneau to Schaffhausen. By 1798, Johannes Paul from Kaneau was living in the colony of Rosenheim, and is recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Rm18.
The 1767 census records that Andreas Paul came from the German village of Belzig in the Zerbst region.
