Johannes Hammerschmidt, son of Nikolaus & Maria Margaretha Hammerschmidt from Seibersbach, married in Erbach on 27 February 1748 to Anna Margaretha Henn.

The births of the following children of Johannes Hammerschmidt & Anna Margaretha Henn are recorded in the parish register of Erbach: (1) Johann Matthias, born 23 March 1749, died 24 April 1749; (2) Adam Christoph, born 1 September 1750, died 6 February 1751; (3) Johann Peter, born 5 December 1751; (4) Johann Adam, born 27 August 1754; (5) Johann Christian, born 20 March 1757; and (6) Maria Margaretha, born 30 January 1762.

Johannes Hammerschmidt, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 15; Adam, age 12; Christian, age 10; Maria, age 5; Johannes, age ¾) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.

Johannes Hammerschmidt, his [new] wife Susanna Katharina, and children (Johann Peter, age 16; Christian, age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dehler in Household No. 28. They had settled in Dehler on 26 June 1767.

Peter Hammerschmidt and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Dehler in Household No. Dl08.

The descendants of deceased Johannes Hammerschmidt are recorded on the 1798 census of Dehler in Household No. Dl25.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johannes Hammerschmidt was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a coal miner (Köhler).

The 1767 census records that Johannes Hammerschmidt came from the German village of Erbach in the region of Kurpfalz.
