Adam Schunk, a craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 15 July 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 85 along with his new wife Anna (from the Kurtrier region).

The 1767 census records that Adam Schunk came from the German village of Kissingen in the region of Würzburg.
