Discussion & Documentation

Stephan Wittig, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They are recorded on the appendix to the 1767 census of Paulskaya in Household No. 48 along with his stepson Konrad Stein. There is also a note that they resettled to Hockerberg in 1768.

The 1767 census records that Stephan Wittig came from the German region of Wachbach.
