Michael Geise, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Schulz on 8 September 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 17.

The 1767 census records that Michael Geise came from the German village of Barby in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
