Jean Baptiste Triule was born in approximately 1785, probably in France. He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians. He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Louis.

He is recorded on the 1834 Louis Census in Household No. 104, on the 1850 Louis Census in Household No. 143, and on the 1857 Louis Census in Household No. 183 with a note that he died there in 1856.
