Johann Kaspar Spiess, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a pink named Новая Двинка (New Dvinka [a river in Russia]) under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 97 along with his new bride Anna Margaretha.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Kaspar Spiess came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Kaspar Spiess came from the German village of Alsfeld in the Darmstadt region.
