Wilhelm Klein was born in approximately 1795 in the village of Berregem [sic] in the region of Köln am Rhein.
He served as a soldier in the 19th Infantry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 a brother and sister were still living in the village of Berregen [sic].
He was settled in the Volga German colony of Meinhard.
He is recorded on the 1834 census of Meinhard in Household No. 42 and on the 1857 census of Meinhard in Household No. 79 with a note that he died there in 1851.
Milovidov records that Wilhelm Klein came from the German town of Berregem [sic] in the region of Köln am Rhein. Berregem does not exist but could be Bergheim, located 22 kilometers west of Köln.
