Peter Runk was born in approximately 1792 in the village of Erlenbach.
He served as a soldier in the 6th Infantry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 his father, mother, brother, and sister were still living in Erlenbach.
Belousov records that he was settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer.
Peter Runk is recorded on the 1834 census of Schäfer in Household No. 70 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Susannental in 1819.
Peter Runk from Schäfer is recorded on the 1834 census of Susannental in Household No. 70.
He is recorded on the 1857 census of Susannental in Household No. 46.
Milovidov records that Peter Runk came from the village of Alonbach [Erlenbach?] in the Alsace region.
[Early research concluded that this Erlenbach was most likely the French village of Albé (known as Erlenbach in German), but there are no Run(c)k families in that vicinity. Research by Tim Weeder concludes that it is more likely to be Erlenbach bei Kandel. There are many Run(c)k families there, although the records have not been located for the years needed to confirm this.]
