Hartmann Borth was born in approximately 1785 in the village of Worms in the Pfalz. He was a butcher.
He served as a soldier in the 46th Infantry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 his father, mother, two brothers, and three sisters were still living in Worms.
He was settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt.
He is recorded there on the 1834 Census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 222, on the 1850 Census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 295, and on the 1857 Census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 321 along with a note that he had died there in 1851.
