Anton Rittmann, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Maria Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 49.

Anton Rittmann and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Mariental in Household No. Mt26.

The death of Anton Rittmann is recorded on the 1834 census of Mariental in Household No. 49 where the surname appears to be recorded as Riedel.

The death of Franz Anton Rittmann on 18 March 1817 is recorded in the parish register of Mariental. The Mariental register records his age at death as 100 years.

The 1767 census records that Anton Rittmann came from the German town of Ochsenhausen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Rittmann family among the Volga German colonies.
