Widower Adam Baum, a farmer, and his children (Maria, age 16; Heinrich, age 14; Anna, age 10½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.
Adam Baum's children (Maria, age 22; Heinrich, age 19; Margareta, age 13) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 50 along with the family of Wilhelm Kloss. No relationship between the Baum and Kloss families is recorded.
The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Zeiskam in the Kurpfalz.
