Johann Werner, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Chasselois on 15 February 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 40.

The 1767 census records that Johann Werner came from the German village of Saarburg in the Trier region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Werner family among the Volga German colonies.
