Simon Vogt, a farmer, and his wife settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 7 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14.
The parish register of the Reformed Church of Saints Peter & Paul in Danzig records that Simon Voigt [sic] from the Pfalz & Maria Amalia Manneweiler from the Pfalz were married on 2 June 1765 in Danzig. This is believed to the the Simon Vogt recorded in the colony of Messer because there are other Manweiler families that settled in Messer as well.
The 1767 census records that Simon Vogt came from the German district of Brandenburg.
